Creating Glitter Candles
Glitter candles have become increasingly popular, especially for gift giving. You can make your own glitter candles right in your home. This article will help you with making your own glitter candles. These candles make great center pieces and gifts for any occasion.
When creating candles at home you just have to make use of some household stuff in order not to spend too much on waxes and molds. And just add glitter to make a unique finish for your candle.
Here are the things that you would be needing:
- Coffee can or glass bowl
- Vegetable oil
- Wax paper
- Color shift glitter
To create the glitter candles just follow these steps:
Put vegetable oil inside your mold and set it aside.
Fill your pot with about 2 inches water and set it over high heat. Then put the coffee can or the glass bowl on it. Make sure that the can or bowl does not float over the water.
Put in the can the wax that has been sliced into small pieces for it to melt. Constantly stir the wax in the can in order to avoid burning.
If you want to add some color to the wax, add some crayons of your desired color into the can and continue stirring it until they have melted and blended with the wax.
Take off the can from the water and let the wax cool down for a while.
Once the wax has cooled down, pour it into the mold which you have prepared earlier.
Get your wick and then insert it in the center of the mold. You will need to make sure that your wick is long enough to reach the bottom of the candle. Use your pencil to hold the wick while the wax hardens by wrapping the wick on it.
Set aside the wax as it hardens. Once it is hard enough, take it out from the mold.
Dissolve a little wax over the fire again following the method done earlier.
While you are waiting for the wax to melt, put the wax paper in place and then sprinkle some glitter on its top.
Once the wax has melted, brush some on the hardened candle.
Roll the candle to the wax paper with glitter.
Put the candle in a place where it can harden completely.
